Mint for Health

While peppermint tea has been a staple of many pantries for years, we often just think about it as a refreshing beverage without taking into account the myriad health benefits mint has. From soothing upset stomach to improving alertness and focus mint can help heal from the inside out.
Mint tea can be bought at the local grocery store, from a specialty beverage producer like Sesa Pure or grown in the comfort of your own backyard and steeped into a healthful tisane. Peppermint and other mint varietals are hardy plants best grown in the shade. It can be grown indoors or outdoors and will thrive year-round, allowing you to make a delicious tea during every season.
Mint can be used fresh or dry and is popularly used as a seasoning, steeped into teas and tisanes, or in salads and desserts. Of the over two-dozen varietals of Mint, peppermint and spearmint are the most popularly used in contemporary cuisine and health applications.

Ayurveda is an Ancient Sanskrit word meaning "the complete knowledge for long life". The root word, "Ayus" means "longevity" while "Veda" means "knowledge" or "science". Ayurveda originated in India as a form of traditional medicine & has recently gained popularity in the west as a form of "alternative" medicine.
Ayurveda is based upon the Hindu belief in the Pancha Mahabhuta or the Five Great Elements -- earth, water, air, fire, and ether. It is believed every creation, including the human body, is comprised of these five essential building blocks.
While at its root a medical practice, Ayurveda is also a philosophy of life, incorporating a plant-based, holistic approach to wellness and balanced living. The goals of this philosophy include a balanced metabolism & digestion, good hygiene, exercise, yoga, & meditation.
While difficult in today's fast-paced world to live consistently by these principals, they can be incorporated into a contemporary lifestyle to increase well-being and balance in one's life.
