Tips, Tricks & Tales from the SESA Beverage Lab
Staying well through transitions
August is a time of shifts and transitions for many people. As the preparation for the new school year cycle start and the summer season begins to turn into fall - schedules and rhythms change along with the weather, landscapes and even our diets. Even in Texas where it may not seem like fall weather is approaching these changes are upon us. Parents and families for sure are aware and another part of our community also is very well aware - our fellow farmers. Simply ask any farmer and they for sure know it is the close of summer which they have already been preparing for weeks now.
Speaking of changes, if anything has been constant this year - it is change.
Although we are slowing learning how to sustain and grow there is still so much more to manage each new week to stay well.
With all the variables to which we are each individually adapting we must also pay attention to our physical and mental well being. At Sesa we continue to stay determined to continue to share our teas, chai, coffee and botanicals to keep us going and stay in balance and we plan to do more!
Health + wellness are at the core of our mission
Health and well being is the foundation for Sesa. From the meaning of Sesa which represents balance in Sanskrit, to our mission to support drinking with purpose and promote intentional living and with our products designed to help you be balanced. Our ultimate goal is to help cultivate individual and community wellness.
This spring and summer opened our eyes and minds to even more knowledge and awareness about our food economy and systems - locally and globally. Beyond our previous and ongoing commitment to our long term partner growers, customers and wholesale partners we are now even more committed to advocating and supporting sustainable healthy living on a community level as well.
We have been learning about more ways we can contribute while we too have been working through how to sustain and keep going this year and we are starting with small steps.
Now in addition to our beverage products we have been presented an opportunity to venture into more ways to support the health of our community and we are excited to add more to our offerings to make the transition into the fall this year.
We invite you to continue reading to learn about how to purchase within your budget, gift some wellness or make a donation.
Advocating + supporting healthy food and beverage
In addition to our tea, coffee and herbal blends we currently offer we are adding more options to keep you well, support the local Austin community and be more connected into our food system.
This month we are taking on a small project that’s aligned with our core foundation at Sesa - to keep people well and in balance.
We are offering weekly organic produce boxes filled with locally grown and harvested healthy nutritious options which you can order and pick up weekly at Sesa. Just like our direct source tea and coffee - we are keeping our growers, the environment and our customers all well.
How is this produce box opportunity different or better for you and your family?
More places have started to offer similar options however these are a bit more special for a few reasons! First of many is one reason we were excited about them is that these farm fresh produce boxes are more well balanced than many others we have researched and come across and that’s just one more reason that we are so excited about this opportunity!
The farmers and the organization that distributed this produce were previously focused on the wholesale market where the healthy fresh produce was going to food service operators (similar to Sesa’s main customers). Just like us - our customers have been closed partially, fully or are only doing take out - all of which are less volume than before. Additionally many outlets such as educational spaces have been closed so there is an excess of produce available through these channels.
So when you make your produce purchase - you get a box of wholesome goodness each week, fresh from local farms, you also support the local economy of farmers and Sesa.
We will be providing weekly pick up through August and September as we transition into the fall season. As with many things this year we are not certain on how long beyond September we will be able to sustain this program however if we are able to continue to make it work we are sure to keep going! Right now while we have the opportunity and the need is there our goal is to see if we can make a small impact and do what we can.
Our goal is to provide you with healthy offerings to help you implement more wellness as we transition into the fall. If we are able to share wellness and have a sustainable program with the produce boxes we look forward to continuing the program beyond September.
What’s so wonderful about this program is that you can start up your new fall beverage rituals and together we can keep going and support our community -
all while you eat, and drink to stay in balance!
So What's in the box and how do you sign up on the next weekly cycle?
Produce boxes offer balance of options and right now generally include items like green, potatoes and a selection of squash, carrots, mushrooms, carrots, beets or watermelon. They are also locally grown and harvested so keep in mind if you pick up a box that they are natural and organic produce and may not look as manufactured and consistent as you find in the grocery stores. However they are for sure going to be nutritious and tasty!
Start your healthy transition into fall with Sesa Pure
In recent years our focus has been supporting local independent food service operations such as restaurants and coffee shops to add and offer more healthy beverage offerings that are also grower direct, flavorful and functional.
As we all adapt to changes we at Sesa are taking on the responsibility and endeavor to dive further into retail offerings and connect more directly with our community.
Our packaged retail offerings are sustainable to ship anywhere and we will be adding more options to our menu soon. We are also continuing to share our brewed cold brew coffee and masala chai tea options local to our Austin customers which previously was only offered to our wholesale partners.
To place an order to learn more
Follow this link to our online local shop cart here or simply email us at email@example.com.
We will coordinate and work with you on order details and scheduling your pick up. If you place your order online keep in mind that we will reach out to confirm or update your pick up day and time as we continue to work through the shop cart variables to match the produce delivery days. We also want to be sure your produce is fresh so our window of pick up will be limited to Wednesday through Friday each week when you order the Friday previous.
We invite you to join in and help us collectively make a positive impact on our health and make a difference for you, family, friends, neighbors and our community.
Who knew that simply eating and drinking well could do so much more than satisfy our taste buds and our cravings for caffeine!
Support the mission by gifting healthy offerings
We are able to safely and sustainable ship our grower direct packaged teas, coffee, chai and botanicals all over the world.
However for our organic produce boxes you may not be able to consume these from anywhere as they are fresh and for the local Austin community. But don't let that keep you from joining in - this is for everyone!
We welcome and invite anyone able to support this mission to make a beverage purchase for yourself or purchase a produce box for someone you know that lives in the Austin area or as a donation for those who have less access to healthy food.
To join in and share our fresh or brewed offerings as a gift, contact us via email and let us know. We will coordinate a pick up up or delivery as needed. If you choose to make a purchase as a donation we will take your purchased items and donate to the local neighborhood families that our office nears who are less food secure than other areas in town.
We believe that no matter where you live or who you are - we all can and should access and benefit from healthy food choices and quality tea and coffee.
To make a purchase as a gift or donation please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for details and planning.
We thank you in advance for your support!
Drink with Purpose.
